This week, I focused on understanding the foundations of diplomacy and the role of young people in shaping Africa’s international relations. My research showed that although youth make up the majority of Africa’s population, they are still underrepresented in diplomatic spaces.
However, new opportunities are emerging through:
Digital diplomacy
Youth-led advocacy
African Union and ECOWAS youth initiatives
Community-level peacebuilding activities
These platforms are creating avenues for young Africans to contribute to conflict resolution, regional cooperation, and policy influence.
