Afrocentric Internship Curriculum - Entertainment Department

1-6 months duration


This 6-month Afrocentric structured curriculum is designed to provide hands-on experience, industry insights, and career growth opportunities in the Entertainment sector. Interns will engage in weekly tasks, mentorship sessions, and project-based learning to develop skills in content creation, talent management, production, and entertainment business strategies.


Month 1: Introduction to the Entertainment Industry

Focus: Industry Overview, Career Paths & Fundamentals

  • Understanding the Entertainment Ecosystem (Film, Music, Fashion, Events, etc.)
  • Key Players: Directors, Managers, Producers, Influencers, Media Platforms
  • Role of Afrocentric in Africa’s Entertainment Landscape
  • Introduction to Talent Management & Development
  • Weekly Task: Research & Present a Case Study on a Successful African Entertainer

Month 2: Content Creation & Digital Media in Entertainment

Focus: Developing, Producing, and Promoting Content

  • Fundamentals of Storytelling, Branding, & Content Strategy
  • Basics of Scriptwriting & Video Production
  • Social Media for Entertainment & Fan Engagement
  • Weekly Task: Create & Edit a Short Promotional Video for an Afrocentric Event

Month 3: Event Production & Show Management

Focus: Organizing Entertainment Events & Live Shows

  • Planning & Managing Live Events & Concerts
  • Working with Artists, Performers, and Production Teams
  • Behind the Scenes: Sound, Lighting, & Stage Setup
  • Weekly Task: Develop an Event Proposal for an Afrocentric Talent Showcase

Month 4: Monetization & Business of Entertainment

Focus: Earning from Entertainment & Industry Economics

  • Understanding Sponsorship, Endorsements & Brand Deals
  • Revenue Streams: Streaming, Licensing, Merchandising & Ticket Sales
  • Introduction to Entertainment Law & Contracts
  • Weekly Task: Develop a Monetization Strategy for an Emerging Afrocentric Artist

Month 5: Talent Scouting & Influencer Management

Focus: Managing Artists, Models, & Influencers

  • Identifying & Developing Raw Talent
  • Branding & Positioning Talent for Success
  • Negotiation & Deal Structuring for Entertainers
  • Weekly Task: Scout a Talent & Develop a Growth Plan for Them

Month 6: Capstone Project & Career Growth

Focus: Real-World Implementation & Internship Completion

  • Final Project: Each intern will develop a comprehensive entertainment project, which could be:
    • A short film/music showcase
    • A full-scale digital content campaign
    • An event proposal for Afrocentric
  • Presentation & Evaluation by industry professionals
  • Final Assessment & Certification of Completion
